I am
My Unkymood Punkymood (Unkymoods)
People 18-30
Friday. 9.5.08 6:56 am
Realization:

A step toward understanding my "irrational" fear of large crowds, which means it's a step towards freedom.
Large crowds, mainly composed of 18-30 year olds, freak me out. And with justifiable reasons, I believe. While I was at the university, nothing freaked me out more than going from one class to another. It was like they were everywhere. These creatures that care about nothing real; Automatons created by a flawed culture that instils a capitalistic, entertainment driven, selfish mentality. I don't understand them. I fear them. It's as if they have all the power of such university; A zoo run by it's own destructive animals. How does it survive? How does a place overrun by these creatures survive. I don't trust them. How can I? Their lives are filled with nothing good! All they crave is money, shopping, sex, drugs, drama, alcohol. FUN. Without it, they can't seem to survive. They don't seem to understand responsibility, unselfishness, the reality of life.

So, maybe now that I understand... I'm not so sure I WANT to leave this fear.

It is rational to me by all means.

Most people of that age has that mentality installed into their heads that college/university life is the best time of their lives and they should have loads of fun.

...
...that's EXACTLY what I said.

I think that's a really naive statement, possibly as naive as it is for all of these people wanting only, as you say, to have fun and to eschew responsibility. I don't think everyone--even the majority--of people seek pleasure for the sake of hedonism. Most of the time, people are just trying to escape from their own little world of oppressive responsibility by letting loose every once in a while. And some people do this more than others. And it's not necessarily a bad thing. Some people just can't take a life of non-stop hard work and need some way to unwind lest they break down--and THEN the shit would REALLY hit the fan. It's unfair that some people seem to be able to get away with what seems to be complete frivolity and freedom from care, but that's just how it is.

Hmm.
Sounds like perfect excuses to me.
My favorite part of this previous comment is the complete lack of unselfish endeavors. As a matter of fact, I believe it was a statement about nothing other than one's self. You see, a person's work is never trully done, because there is ALWAYS a fellow human being in DESPERATE need of some form of help or another. We, however, only seek to "unwind" and "let loose" instead of helping out someone in need.

Do you think I don't know why people do what they do?
It is irrelevant to me why they do it.
It doesn't make it right.

In the end, even if I'm "naive", I'm at least not blind to other's needs.

Ahem.
That's what I thought at first, then for some reason I changed my mind.

Thanks for the correction.

I'm two years younger than a legal adult.
